    The Asian Australian Foundation (AAF) is a community foundation that connects and brings together the resources of Asian Australians to shape a dynamic Asian philanthropic presence in Australia.

    AAF is offering two scholarships to Swinburne undergraduate students from diverse cultural backgrounds who have experienced disadvantages.

     

     

    Value

    In 2023 there are two Asian Australian Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships available:

    1. One scholarship for Undergraduate 2023 commencing first-year students - scholarship is valued at $3000 per year, for up to three years.
       
    2. One scholarship for Undergraduate continuing students (second or third year) - scholarship is valued at $2500 for one year.

     

     

    How to apply

    Applicants should complete an online application form and submit with all supporting documentation by 31 March 2023. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    Courses eligible

    Any undergraduate course offered by the Swinburne University of Technology.
     

     

     

    Eligibility/selection criteria

    To be eligible for the Asian Australian Foundation Scholarship, applicants must:

    1. Meet the following criteria:
      • Australian citizen
    2. Meet the following enrolment criteria:
      • be a commencing first-year or continuing Swinburne student in Semester 1, 2023
      • enrolled full-time in an eligible course (see courses eligible in the section above)
    3. Provide ATAR certificate or academic transcript of the previous study. Preference will be given to high-achieving students.
       
    4. Provide evidence of diverse cultural backgrounds. This may include:
      • not born in Australia
      • parents not born in Australia
      • English is not the primary language at home
      • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
      • Refugee or Asylum Seeker
    5. Submit a personal statement (500 words) addressing the following points:
      • passion for the chosen field of study
      • how this scholarship would make a difference in your life
      • demonstrated commitment to community service (supported by certificates/letters of participation)
    6. Provide evidence of financial or personal disadvantage. Disadvantage(s) may include:
      • financial difficulty or low-socioeconomic status (Centrelink statement, payslips)
      • disability or medical condition
      • delay or interruption to career or studies because of family responsibilities or illness
      • relocation from a rural or regional area in order to undertake tertiary study
