    Project description: 

    The idea is to work in the interface between Matrix Models and Holography. Construct new backgrounds dual to minimally SUSY and non-SUSY field theories and study them in the context of Matrix Models. Calculate observables of these field theories both in the Matrix Model picture and in the holographic picture. The second part of the thesis work consist in starting the Lattice simulation of some of the field theories above mentioned. The work would finish by presenting the first examples of a three-pronged approach to non-perturbative phenomena in quantum field theory.

     

     

    Funding

    This scholarship covers the full cost of tuition fees and an annual stipend at UKRI rate (currently £17,668 for 2022/23).

    Additional research expenses will also be available.

    Eligibility

    Candidates must normally hold an undergraduate degree at 2.1 level or a master’s degree with a minimum overall grade at ‘Merit’ (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University). See ‘country specific information for European and international applicants (available at the bottom of the page)'

     

    English Language requirements: If applicable – IELTS 6.5 overall (with at least 6.0 in each individual component) or Swansea recognised equivalent. Details on the Swansea University English Language entry policy can be found here.

    This scholarship is open to candidates of any nationality.
